Group B Strep is the Number ONE Infectious KILLER of newborns.

Welcome to the Official Website of the Group B Strep Association

Dedicated to the prevention of GBS infection.

The Group B Strep (GBS) Association is a nonprofit organization formed in June of 1990 by a handful of parents whose babies were victims of GBS infections. Having experienced the pain and devastation of this illness, these parents sought the help of prominent researchers and physicians from all over the country. These doctors responded with great support and have joined together to act as the Medical Advisory Board for the organization. Together our goal is to create increased public awareness. As a result of our efforts, in 1996, the Centers for Disease Control, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics issued aggressive guidelines for prenatal screening and prevention of GBS Disease. Vaccine development is still underway as the ultimate prevention. Our greatest underlying purpose is to serve the public by being a resource for both information and support.
